So today has been one of those days that I just have to laugh about. First of all I came home from school yesterday and was exhausted. So instead of going running I decided to take a nap on the couch. So that's what I did. When I woke up I took a shower and then got into my pjs. I was ready on the couch just in time to watch the Davids in American Idol. Heather then came over and then Kyle got home from work. Both of them commented on the fact that I was wearing my pajamas, but I didn't care. So basically I got home from work and did nothing productive after that except I did some of the dishes.
Well this morning I didn't have to get up early and go to work because my school was going on a field trip to Classic Skating which is located in Orem. So the principal at my school told me I didn't have to drive to Heber and that I could meet everyone at the skating rink. They were supposed to get there between 9 and 10 so I left the house to be there a little after 10. I figured that would be fine. Well I had quite the surprise when I walked out my front door. I had left my windows down. On any other day in the past week that would have been fine, but it had been raining. Not just sprinkling, but raining. So my seats were soaking wet. The whole dashboard was wet. My seatbelt was drenched. Everything was just wet. So I ran inside and got three towels to sit on and put between me and the seat belt. Here is a picture of my car for anyone who doesn't know what it looks like. I have had it for almost 8 years now!!!
As I was driving to Classic Skating the towels soaked all of the way through and by the time I got there my bum was all wet as well as where the seat belt went. Also, all my windows were fogged up so I had to crack the window on my way there and it was still raining. I was laughing so hard the whole time.
So I walked into the skating rink and one of the school counselors was on the phone walking out. He looks at me (I thought I was going to be in trouble for showing up late- I wasn't) and says: Did you come here in a car?? I said yes and he said: can you drive a student to the hospital?? And I said of course. My car is only a 2 seater, but a teacher can't be alone with a student and so another teacher came. She was super cool about hanging out in the back with no seat or anything. So I got the student and the teacher in my car. The seats were soaked and so were the towels so by this point everyone is getting wet and squished into the car.
The student had rollerblades on and was trying to go on a wave board. One of those skateboard things that you can rotate the sides.
Here is a picture of an example:
Alright so we left and went to urgent care. He ended up getting 7 stitches right above his left eye. Apparently he fell right on his face. He was pretty chill about it. He didn't complain about it hurting or anything. So I hung out there for like 2 hours. The bus came and picked up the other teacher and took her back to Heber. I waited until the student's mom came and got him. After that I went and took Kyle lunch and I was good to go for the day. My job is pretty sweet. I only have 1 1/2 more days of school and I am done for the year. Summer vacation is just about here. Here is a picture of the student with his stitches.
